Your Prayers Matter — 21 November, 2008

What do surfers, young professionals, teachers, natural healers, and Buddhists have in common? Members of TEAM PORTUGAL share that these are the people that the Father has drawn to the Surfers Bible study. Each week the apartment, where they have been meeting, has been filled to capacity and now they are planning to launch “Surf Church” on December 2. Lift up these team members, as they step out to reach the youth and young adults, who are disenfranchised and seeking a true spiritual direction. Ask that their new facility, which seats 60 – 70 people, will also be filled, as the group gathers to share dinner and fellowship, and to hear a simple gospel message. Petition that a true movement of the Lord will take place.

LUXEMBOURG is a small country in Western Europe bordered by France, Germany and Belgium. There are currently no personnel working in this country, but a couple that has been serving in France, has recently felt led to move to Luxembourg. Unfortunately, a law passed in July concerning visas, may prevent any Board personnel from living in this country. However, we have a mighty Father for whom nothing is impossible. Intercede that the people He wants to serve in Luxembourg — whether with the Board, another Christian organization, or witnesses working in the secular world — will be granted visas according to His will.

As preparations for the Live Nativity in Amberg, Germany proceed, members of the EAST BAVARIA TEAM, who are on temporary assignment in Portugal, share that intercession is needed for the sheep that will be used for the Nativity. The people from whom they get the animals, are purchasing some new sheep. The problem, however, is that since the team members aren’t in the country this year, they haven’t been able to find anyone with a vehicle and the time to transport the sheep each day. This is requiring the sheep owners to train them to be led by the reins, so that the volunteers can walk the sheep into town like they do Nancy, the donkey. Ask the Father to allow His creation (the sheep) to quickly take to the idea of being led and that they will not be spooked and afraid, when they are walking along the street to the market. And, while you are lifting up the sheep, you may as well intercede for the donkey, Nancy, too! Please also remember the volunteer groups, as they make their final preparations and prepare to depart for Germany. The nativity will begin on Nov. 30.
